BOSTON, August 21, 2014 – Ari Sussman has been named Vice President of Product Development at HourlyNerd, an online talent marketplace that connects businesses ranging from start-ups to Fortune 50 companies, with MBA students and alumni, providing them with top tier consultant services at a fraction of the cost of traditional firms.
In his new role, Sussman will serve as a key strategic leader on the management team, leading all aspects of the product from vision to execution.
Sussman is the latest in a series of senior hires for HourlyNerd, following CTO Brian Morgan, founder of the online marketplace OpenMile; CMO Dan Slagen, former head of marketing at Nannigans; and VP of Sales Rich Gardner, former Managing Director at expert network Gerson Lehrman Group. The addition of a head of product development comes as the company grows its SMB customer base and continues to form and expand enterprise-level relationships with the Fortune 1000.
“We’re on a mission to have the very best technical and product organization on the east coast – adding Ari to an exceptional technical team gets us that much closer,” said co-CEO Pat Petitti. “His experience and leadership will allow us to focus our organization on building an incredible product to meet the needs of businesses of every size. No doubt he is the perfect person for the job.”
“We’re disrupting a stagnant, incredibly overpriced, century-old industry, and to do that we need the very best functional leaders. Ari helps us round out incredible strategic talent in Sales, Marketing, Technology, and Product,” said co-CEO Rob Biederman. “With this hire, we are now ready to take this company to the next level.”
“HourlyNerd has done a remarkable job building its business,” said Sussman. “The company fills an enormous void in the market by matching businesses of all sizes with exceptional MBA talent. I couldn’t be more excited to join the team.”
Sussman joins HourlyNerd with a decade of experience forming and leading product development and strategy teams, most recently spending seven years with Vistaprint, a world leader in custom print solutions for small businesses and consumers. At Vistaprint, Sussman led a team responsible for planning and executing the software and hardware for new product launches across the company’s $1B product portfolio.
Prior to Vistaprint, Sussman was part of the pre-launch team at Walmart.com, now one of the top five e-commerce sites on the internet. At Walmart.com he built and managed Wal-Mart Online DVD Rentals, before successfully selling it to Netflix. A graduate of McGill University and Harvard Business School, he is originally from Newton, Massachusetts.
HourlyNerd is an online marketplace founded at Harvard Business School in February 2013, which connects MBAs (both current students and alumni) from the top 40 MBA programs with businesses of all sizes for specific project needs. The platform currently boasts more than 6,000 MBAs and 3,000 business members. Project types include strategic advisory, marketing and branding, finance, operations, amongst others.
